Historian and writer Prof. Hind Abu Al-Shaar called for adopting a new methodology in writing and teaching Jordan's history during a lecture she delivered at the University of Petra. She emphasized the need to incorporate digital education and artificial intelligence while utilizing diverse sources to present a more comprehensive and accurate historical narrative.
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences hosted the lecture, titled "Towards a New Methodology in Writing Jordan's History," organized by the Department of Educational Sciences as part of the Social Education and Teaching Methods course taught by Dr. Maram Abu Al-Nadi.
Abu Al-Shaar highlighted the importance of leveraging technological advancements to enhance the experience of learning history and to develop its curricula. She stressed the necessity of presenting history as an integral branch of social studies, aligned with the digital revolution. She offered recommendations aimed at improving the teaching of history for educators and its writing by historians, thereby enriching students' understanding and preparing them for the future.
At the conclusion of the lecture, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Salman, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, presented Prof. Hind Abu Al-Shaar with an honorary shield in recognition of her valuable contributions.
Such lectures contribute to enhancing students' research and critical thinking skills while opening new horizons for integrating modern technologies into educational fields.
